Over Two-Thirds of UK Businesses to Turn to Voip

By Saul Saresi

Telappliant have concluded - from carrying out an in-depth survey of over 100 UK businesses across all industry sectors - that over two thirds of all UK based businesses will utilise some type of Voip service within the next six months.

Over 40% of businesses surveyed declared that their firms already utilised Voip technology, with a further 25% stating that they were planning to make the switch to Voip within the next 12 months - with the fastest rate of adoption being medium sized businesses with between 100 and 500 employees.

Unsurprisingly, the main motivating factors for companies making the switch to Voip technologies were price and remote working opportunities. Price has always been an obvious and significant advantage over traditional phone systems, but the huge potential for remote working offered by Softphone's is only just being realised by most businesses.

And this is highlighted by the statistics, with price being the motivating factor for 70% of businesses, with remote working accounting for just over 20%. And there are still many companies - nearly 50% - who believe that Voip technology is still too unreliable and complex to trust.

However, this number is decreasing all the time, as ninety nine percent of companies who make the switch realise that their judgement's were based on incomplete information and misinformed preconceptions. But this is to be expected when a new technology enters a marketplace and exerts such dominance in such a short space of time.

Tan Askoy, the CEO of Telappliant, believes that Voip services are something that should not be overlooked by small and medium UK businesses, as the benefits and flexibility offered by Voip through business mobiles, 3G and 4G make contemporary Voip technology easy to recommend and utilise for a wide range of uses.

And just in case you need stats to back up the facts, then consider this: within the next few months, the number of business calls made via traditional phone systems will be surpassed by those made via Voip connection. Once again highlighting the fact that any companies still believing Voice Over IP technology to be unreliable are living in the past.

So I would hope that if you work for a company that has not yet embraced the benefits of Voip technology, the points outlined in this article will have helped you to realise that it is only a matter of time before all businesses make the switch and leave analogue communications for good.
